Mobivia Groupe is backing the Paris-Saclay New Mobilities Challenge

18 April 2014

Mobivia Groupe, the European leader in car maintenance and equipment and a key player in mobility, is a partner of the New Mobilities student challenge, alongside EDF, Altran, Renault and Studyka. The challenge was launched in November 2013 by the Paris-Saclay public institution, in order to consider mobility in urban campuses of the future.

Aimed at French and foreign students, the purpose of the challenge is to encourage them to imagine and suggest new ways of moving within Paris-Saclay: new services, new functions, new innovative applications etc. which will enable the optimisation and revolutionising of mobility in town.
In total, 97 teams, representing 14 countries and 141 universities, have decided to take up the challenge.

Cycling and web-enabled mobility solutions in the spotlight

After 4 months of competition, the jury, comprising our partner companies, selected Le vélo, c’est Saclay (Cycling means Saclay) as the winner of the challenge, from among the 5 finalists, during a grand final held on Friday 11 April 2014.

Le vélo, c’est Saclay proposes the installation of ultra-comfortable cycle lanes, the inclusion of ‘bike zones’ in metro trains and the introduction of high-security bollards for parking your bike.
Second price went to Stop Option. The judges were particularly impressed with the team’s presentation of their dynamic carpooling application which already works perfectly on the HEC campus.

Providing assistance in the development of new mobilities for the Mobivia Groupe

For 3 years, the Mobivia Groupe has created and supported service companies united by a desire to change the way we consider travel. Through its development fund, Via-ID, the goal is to provide an offer of mobility in the widest sense, focused on three key areas for reflection and development: carpooling, web-enabled vehicles and ‘soft’ urban mobility.

Some of the Via-ID companies include: Altermove, a specialist in ‘soft’ urban mobility; Ubeeqo, a leader in corporate shared mobility; and Buzzcar, an innovative car sharing platform.
